How to Add Netflix to Steam Deck Easily

The Steam Deck isn’t just for gaming. It’s a powerful handheld PC that can also stream movies and TV shows. Whether you’re traveling or just relaxing in bed, Netflix on Steam Deck is a great way to enjoy your favorite content.
Step 1: Switch to Desktop Mode
Netflix doesn’t have an official Steam Deck app, but you can still watch it using a web browser. First, you need to enter Desktop Mode.
- Press the Steam button.
- Scroll down and select Power.
- Choose Switch to Desktop.
Now you’re in Desktop Mode! It looks like a regular PC.
Step 2: Install a Web Browser
Netflix runs smoothly in a web browser. If you don’t already have one, let’s install one.
- Open the Discover Store (blue shopping bag icon).
- Search for Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
- Click Install.
Once installed, open the browser.
Step 3: Go to Netflix
Now that you have a browser, let’s get to Netflix.
- Open your browser.
- Go to Netflix.com.
- Log in to your account.
You can now watch your favorite shows!
Step 4: Add Netflix to Steam
Want easy access to Netflix from Gaming Mode? Add it to Steam!
- In Desktop Mode, open Steam.
- Click Library.
- Click + Add a Game (bottom left).
- Select Add a Non-Steam Game.
- Find your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and check the box.
- Click Add Selected Programs.
Now the browser is in your Steam Library.
Step 5: Customize for Quick Access
You don’t want to open the browser and type “Netflix” every time. Let’s make it easier!
- Find your added browser in Steam.
- Right-click it and choose Properties.
- In the Launch Options field, add this at the end:
--new-window https://www.netflix.com
Now, every time you open the browser from Steam, it goes straight to Netflix!
Step 6: Switch Back to Gaming Mode
Done setting up? Let’s go back to Gaming Mode.
- Click the Return to Gaming Mode icon on the desktop.
Now, Netflix is in your Steam Library. Just open it like a game!
